Zinetastic

My love for zines and all art independent [of corporations] is boundless. Yet collaborative art and collaborative zines are perhaps even more incredible!

Below are a few pages of the zine I created in Chicago, (my very first ever!) for my independent study project discussing my thoughts on panhandling and homelessness in Chicago.

Before the great reveal...I will also take time for a shameless plug The INCREDIBLE planner I have become addicted to over the past 4 year is very much a collaborative zine put out by the Slingshot Collective. Here is a description of the Slingshot Planner:

Now in its 19th year of publication, the Slingshot Organizer is a must-have for punks, radicals, free thinkers, and the young at heart. This pocket planner (4.25 inches X 5.5 inches) features radical occasions (both historical and contemporary!) for every day of the year, space for your addresses and phone numbers, a contact list of radical groups around the globe, a menstrual calendar, unit conversions, info on police repression, blank pages for notes, and much more.

Below is a picture of the cover of the planner for 2013...WHA!? So cool, huh?

NOW, to reveal the zine...Below are pages 1 through 8!

  1. I am very fond of the zine as it displays your artistic expression both through prose and visually. I like that you posted each of the pages online instead of hyperlinking the zine. I think this Zine should definitely be distributed being that the art and the message are so good. I like how your blog gives light to who you are as both an activist and an artist ! The white back ground really allows me to focus on the content of our blog. I am also really fond of the font choice.

    1. Oh Renee! Thank you...I really appreciate your comments about the content of the Zine as I have struggled with that in the past. Let's talk about zines and zine distribution as i would love your input! :)
