WHATZA ZINE?!
Short for magazine or fanzine, zines are self-publications, motivated by a desire for self-expression, not for profit.
Guerrilla artists don't follow the status quo, unless it works for them.
Guerrilla artists make the change that they want to see.
Guerrilla artists are revolutionaries.
Guerrilla artists respond to the world.
Guerrilla artists create art FOR the world and their communities.
Guerrilla artists from my period one class are now tackling a project which focuses on issues that affect their own community or the larger community of our nation and world. Each student has decided on an issue and will create a zine to respond to this issue in a way that is accessible to our local community. These will be distributed in three different places (our school, the library, and the student's choice) so that others can see the incredible work that they have done and connect to these issues in a unique way.
As students begin posting images of their zine and artists statements I will update!
